Thinking of buying a rice cooker? Try this first..

I'm sure there are people who will read this and bark at the screen that their way is far better and this is not the traditional, or a rice cooker is much better.

Well maybe so, but this works for me everytime, it saves time and money (no rice cooker needed) surely thats a win, right?

Its quite simple really, these are the steps:

  • 1 cup rice (rinse under water, but this really is optional)
  • 1 1/2 cups water
  • Place all in a saucepan and place lid on (or use tin foil if no lid for that pan).
  • Let sit in the water ideally for 30 mins, but 10 is ok
  • With lid on, turn hob on and bring to the boil.
  • Once boiling, turn heat right down to low and leave lid on (try and avoid looking just leave it for 10/15mins)
  • After 15mins or so, turn off heat and leave lid on for a few more mins.

Fluff rice and serve.

No fancy rice cooker needed. Simple, easy, perfect rice made at home to eat well
